My first day in school
Starting a language program is long process. Two-Way CABE provides a lot of assistance to help language programs get started.

The International Charter School of La Mirada's (ICS) goal is to become the first K-5 school on the Los Angeles / Orange County border* to provide an internationally recognized International Baccalaureate (IB) curriculum with English-German Immersion.

Our aim is to begin operating in the City of La Mirada in September, 2012.The Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District (NLMUSD) denied our charter petition on November 8, 2010. On November 19th, we appealed to the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). Our petition was denied by the LACOE Board on February 15, 2011. During that February 15th LACOE Board Meeting, NLMUSD Staff stated their desire that ICS of La Mirada reapply to the NLMUSD. Therefore, ICS petitioners revised the charter petition and resubmitted to the NLMUSD on February 25, 2011. The NLMUSD Board of Education denied our charter petition on April 20, 2011. On May 2, 2011, we filed an appeal with LACOE and will go before the LACOE Board of Education soon. Our charter was denied on June 28, 2011.

We are currently working with a different school district to bring our program to students and families beginning September 2012.

*You do not need to live within School District boundaries in order for your child to attend the tuition-free International Charter School of La Mirada.
